《大眾日報》創(chuàng)刊于1939年1月1日。它迎著抗日戰(zhàn)爭的烽火硝煙誕生，沐浴著新中國的陽光雨露壯大，在改革開放的大潮中迅速崛起，歷經60年風雨路程，成為全國歷史最悠久的黨報。《大眾日報》60年的歷史，與山東黨和人民進行革命斗爭、社會主義建設的歷史緊密結合在一起，它忠實記錄了山東人民在黨的領導下進行的可歌可泣的奮斗歷程，是山東黨和人民革命和建設史詩的一部分。《大眾日報》60年的歷史，是一代代大眾報人艱苦卓絕的創(chuàng)業(yè)史，不斷開拓進取的發(fā)展史，是一部每一個大眾報人都值得自豪的光榮歷史。

《大眾日報》從誕生的第一天起，就是一張新型的無產階級革命報紙，是黨和人民的喉舌。無論戰(zhàn)爭年代作為中共中央山東分局、華東局機關報，還是和平建設時期和改革開放、社會主義現(xiàn)代化建設新時期作為中共山東省委機關報，它都得到中央領導、上級黨委的關懷和支持。1940年1月1日，毛澤東同志為創(chuàng)刊一周年的《大眾日報》題詞予以鼓勵，半個世紀后，在《大眾日報》喜慶創(chuàng)刊50周年之際，鄧小平同志揮毫題詞祝賀，并為大眾日報社新創(chuàng)辦的子報《齊魯晚報》題寫報頭。中共山東省委對《大眾日報》的宣傳和事業(yè)發(fā)展非常關心，尤其是改革開放以來，歷任省委主要領導或到報社考察指導，或作批示對報社工作給予支持鼓勵。春風春雨含情，催綻繁花滿樹。中央領導和省委的關懷與支持，必將激勵大眾報人不斷創(chuàng)造更大的業(yè)績。
《大眾日報》從誕生的第一天起，始終堅持“黨的立場，群眾的報紙”的辦報宗旨，與黨和人民的利益休戚與共。戰(zhàn)爭年代，他是催征的鼙鼓；和平建設時期，它是指路的大纛。在新的歷史時期，《大眾日報》堅持正確輿論導向，堅持正面宣傳為主，不斷豐富版面內容，提高宣傳藝術水平，形成了唱好典型宣傳“重頭戲”，忠實反映大眾心聲，求新、求深、求重、求活，指導性、服務性、可讀性兼?zhèn)涞霓k報特色，在全省新聞輿論大合唱中肩負起“領唱”角色，為宣傳黨的理論、路線、方針、政策，推進改革開放和現(xiàn)代化建設，發(fā)揮了重要作用。
《大眾日報》從誕生和第一天起，就根植人民大眾，在黨和人民群眾的培養(yǎng)哺育下發(fā)展壯大。《大眾日報》的發(fā)展壯大，靠的是“全黨辦報”、“大家辦報”方針的貫徹，靠的是成千上萬通訊員參加報紙工作，靠的是各級黨組織支持，靠的是黨和人民革命事業(yè)的勝利發(fā)展。我們永遠不會忘記沂蒙人民對報紙的養(yǎng)育之恩，在那戰(zhàn)火紛飛的艱苦歲月，是他們給了我們衣食之源，一百幾十位鄉(xiāng)親為掩護報社人員和印刷器材慘遭敵人殺害。我們永遠不會忘記，全省人民在各個歷史時期的大力支持。銘記歷史，一代代大眾報人努力使自己的思想、作風和工作適應黨和人民的需要，跟上時代前進的步伐；銘記歷史，一代代大眾報人認真實踐著全心全意為為民服務的宗旨，想人民群眾所想，急人民群眾所急，使報紙成為宣傳、組織、鼓舞、激勵、推動全省各項工作的戰(zhàn)斗武器，受到山東各級黨組織和人民群眾的喜愛。
《大眾日報》從誕生的第一天起，就是一片奉獻的陣地。創(chuàng)刊60年來，先后有兩千多位同志在這里工作和戰(zhàn)斗過。《大眾日報》的成長與壯大，與老一輩黨的新聞工作者的苦心經營、忘我工作密不可分。是一代代老同志的辛勤勞動和創(chuàng)造性工作，使《大眾日報》成為一張富有光榮革命傳統(tǒng)的報紙。在戰(zhàn)火紛飛、艱苦卓絕的戰(zhàn)爭年代，大眾日報社先后有530多位優(yōu)秀工作人員，在對敵斗爭中獻出了寶貴的生命。另有一大批同志，因長期艱苦生活和緊張工作，積勞成疾，過早地離開了我們。《大眾日報》的成長與壯大，是革命先烈用生命和鮮血換來的。沒有他們的英勇奮斗和流血犧牲，就沒有《大眾日報》的過去，更不會有《大眾日報》的今天。他們?yōu)檎胬砗驼x而獻身的革命精神，無論現(xiàn)在還是將來，都是大眾報人取之不盡的財富和力量源泉，鼓舞和激勵一代代大眾報人為黨和人民的新聞事業(yè)奮斗不懈。
《大眾日報》從誕生的第一天起，就是一個和諧融洽的大家庭，人才輩出的大學校。從戰(zhàn)爭年代到和平建設、改革開放新時期，報社事業(yè)發(fā)展了，員工增多了，機構變化了，分工細致了，但官兵友愛、互相關心、互相尊重的社風沒有變。大家從不同的地方走到一起，為共同的理想而奮斗，為共同的事業(yè)而拼搏。注重新聞隊伍建設和人才的培養(yǎng)，是大眾日報社的優(yōu)良傳統(tǒng)。60年來，大眾日報社為黨和國家培養(yǎng)和輸送了大批優(yōu)秀干部和專業(yè)人才。他們中有政治家、教育家、文學家、哲學家、外交家，也有名編輯、名記者。他們在各自的崗位上發(fā)揮著重要作用。回憶起對自己的培養(yǎng)，許多同志滿含深情地稱大眾日報社為“我的大學”。進入90年代，報社不斷深化干部人事制度改革，大批年輕同志脫穎而出，為事業(yè)發(fā)展增添了活力，增強了后勁。
千臂齊奮搖櫓力，風正帆懸日千里。改革開放以來，大眾報人以鄧小平理論為指導，不斷解放思想，深化改革、開拓進取，報紙宣傳、經營管理、思想政治工作“三個輪子”協(xié)調運轉，形成擁有“四報兩刊”，以報為主、多種經營、全面發(fā)展的報業(yè)新格局，報紙質量有較大提高，經營收入大幅增長，為“九五”期間實現(xiàn)一個較高的事業(yè)發(fā)展新目標，奠定了良好的基礎。成績是巨大的。足以令每一個大眾報人感到驕傲和自豪，然而也還只是初步的。面對世紀之交的機遇和挑戰(zhàn)，大眾報人豪情滿懷，信心百倍。我們將按照黨的十五大確定的戰(zhàn)略部署，以馬列主義、毛澤東思想、鄧小平理論為指導，在以江澤民同志為核心的黨中央和中共山東省委的領導下，搶抓歷史機遇，繼續(xù)開拓進取。歷史將證明，具有光榮傳統(tǒng)的大眾報人一定能夠繼續(xù)創(chuàng)造出無愧于前人的輝煌業(yè)績，開創(chuàng)更加美好的未來！
以建設山東新聞界跨世紀形象工程---山東新聞大廈為標志，大眾日報社二次創(chuàng)業(yè)活動掀起了高潮。全社職工正在社黨委、編委會領導下，發(fā)揚艱苦奮斗、敬業(yè)拼搏、無私奉獻、開拓創(chuàng)新的精神，向著辦一流報紙，帶一流隊伍、建一流設施、創(chuàng)一流實體，爭取把一個燦爛的大眾日報社帶入二十一世紀的目標奮進。
Glorious History
Dazhong Daily started its publication on January 1,
1939. It was born in face of the beacon-fire and smoke
of gunpowder of Anti-Japanese War, strengthening under
the sunshine, rain and dew of new China, standing out
prominently in the spring tide of reform and opening
up to the outside world.
Going through the trials and hardship journey for
65 years, Dazhong Daily has become the longest
continuously published party newspaper in China. The
65 years' history of Dazhong Daily is combined with
history that Shandong people waging arduous struggle,
building socialism together closely. It is a part of
the epic of Shandong people's revolution and
construction under the leadership of CPC.
The 65 years of Dazhong Daily is the history that
generation after generation start an undertaking in
extremely hard and bitter condition, is the
development history of pioneering and keeping forging
ahead constantly, is the glorious history worthy to be
proud of.
From the first day of its birth, Dazhong Daily is a
new-type revolutionary newspaper of proletariat. It is
the mouthpiece of CPC and Chinese people.
It gets the care and support of the central
authorities leaders, party committee of higher levels,
no matter as the organ of the Shandong Bureau of CPC
Central Committee, East China Bureau during the war
years, or as the organ of CPC Shandong Provincial
Party Committee in peace time, in period of reform and
opening up to the outside world, and socialist
modernization.
On January 1, 1940, comrade Mao Zedong writes
inscription to encourage its first anniversary of
publication. After half a century, when Dazhong Daily
celebrates its 50th anniversary, comrade Deng Xiaoping
writes inscription to congratulate, inscribing the
head of newspaper for the newly established sub
newspaper The Qilu Evening News.
The CPC Shandong Provincial Party committee cares
about the propaganda and cause development of Dazhong
Daily very much. Since the reform and opening up to
the outside world, successive Provincial Party
Committees have either come to the newspaper offices
to inspect, or make comments and instructions for the
work of the newspaper.
The care and support of Central authority's leaders
and Provincial Party Committee will encourage us to
create greater achievement constantly.
From the first day of its birth, Dazhong Daily
insists on the aim of running a newspaper of "the
stand of party, the newspaper of people" all the
time, stands together through thick and thin with the
interests of party and people.
At new historical period, Dazhong Daily adheres to
correct guiding role of the mass media, insisting on
positive propaganda, enriching content of newspaper
constantly, improving artistic level of propagating,
forming the specialty of propagating typical models,
reflecting masses heartfelt wishes truly, looking for
novelty, deepness, heaviness, liveliness, guidance,
service, and readability, and undertake the role of
"leading singer" among news media of the
whole province. Dazhong Daily has played an important
role to propagate the theory, route, guiding principle
and policy of the party, advancing the reform and
opening up to the outside world and modernization
construction.
From the first day of its establishment, Dazhong
Daily implants itself in people, develops and sprouts
under the cultivation of the party and the people.
The development and growth of Dazhong Daily depends
on the guiding principle of "running a newspaper
by the whole party" and "running a newspaper
by everybody", depends on hundreds of
correspondents who work for the newspaper, depends on
support of leading party members' groups at all
levels, depends on the victories of the party and
people's revolutionary cause.
We will never forget to be indebted to Yimeng
people's love and care from childhood of the
newspaper. In wartime, people in Yimeng mountain
region provides clothes and shelter for us; over one
hundred villagers are killed by enemies for sheltering
our staff and printing machines.
We will never forget the energetic support of the
people in each historical period. By engraving history
on our minds, Dazhong people make great efforts to
make their thoughts and work styles to meet the needs
of the party and the people and to keep pace with the
time.
By engraving history on our minds, our journalists
practice for the aim of serving the people
wholeheartedly and conscientiously, think what people
think, worry about what people are worried, making
newspaper become the fight weapon to propagate,
organize, encourage, and drive work of the whole
province. As a result, Dazhong Daily is loved by party
members' groups at all levels and the people in
Shandong.
From the first day of its birth, Dazhong Daily is a
battlefield for dedication.
Over the past 65 years, more than 2,000 comrades work
and fight here successively. The growth and
development of Dazhong Daily is inseparably connected
with the painstaking efforts and hard work of the
older generation.
The hard work of old comrades makes Dazhong Daily
become a newspaper rich in glorious revolutionary
traditions. During the war years, over 530 outstanding
staff members dedicate their valuable lives during the
struggle against the enemy. Many comrades fall sick
from overwork and arduous life, having left us too
early.
The growth and development of Dazhong Daily is
brought to us by the lives and blood of revolutionary
martyrs. Without their brave struggle and sacrifice,
we will not have Dazhong Daily today.
The revolutionary spirit of dedicating for truth
and justice, no matter at now or in future, will be an
abundant wealth and strength source of Dazhong people,
encouraging us to struggle for journalistic course
untiringly.
From the first day of its birth, Dazhong Daily is a
big and harmonious family, a large school to cultivate
talented people. Though the cause has developed, the
staff has increased, the organization has changed, the
work has been divided more specifically, however, and
the spirit of care, friendliness and respect hasn't
changed.
People come together from different places, working
hard for common ideal, striving for common cause.
Dazhong Daily has a fine tradition to pay attention
to the construction of news team and the cultivation
of talents.
Over the past 65 years, it trains and sends a large
quantity of outstanding cadres and qualified personnel
to our country. There are politicians, educationists,
writers, philosophers, diplomats, famous editors and
reporters among them. They are playing important roles
at their posts. A lot of comrades call Dazhong Daily
"my university" with deep affection. Since
1990s, the newspaper office deepens the reform of
personnel system for cadres constantly, a large
quantity of young comrades show their talents,
increase vigor for cause development, strengthen
stamina for future development.
Since the reform and opening up to the outside
world, our journalists regard Deng Xiaoping theory as
guiding policy, emancipating our minds constantly.
Through deepening reform, pioneering and keeping
forging ahead newspaper propagation, ideological and
political work coordinated, Dazhong Daily forms a new
pattern of owing "eight newspapers and two
periodicals", relying mainly on newspapers, and
developing diversified economy. Newspaper quality
improves a lot and income increases greatly,
establishing a good foundation for realizing
relatively high development goal.
Now, Shandong News mansion has become a new image
for Dazhong's New Generation Development program,
focused on thrusting Dazhong Daily forward in the 21st
Century.
The achievement is enormous and is enough to make
every journalist take pride in and be proud of, but it
is also preliminary. History will prove, Dazhong Daily
with glorious tradition can continue to create
brilliant achievement and bright future!
